Re: [OMC-Boats] spark

As luck would have it, I think my coil checked out on this year's first outing. Got a tow back, and after watching one guy break his trailer in half on the launch and back everyone up, another conk out at the dock, walking mine on the trailer was much more difficult to say the least. Anyway, I checked my points, cap, rotor everything looks good, so I decided I'd pull the coil primary wire and crank it over. No spark. Ok, so remembering back a few cars I had a spare coil from a 66 Plymouth Belvedere. Popped it in, and except for the fact that the terminals are all on the same end of the coil (traditional) instead of the original coil I had, it fired up and ran fine. Any problems with using this spare coil? I honestly don't know the specs, but I can't believe it being a problem. I know coils have been a recent issue, does anybody know the correct replacement? I don't imagine there's anything different between the OMC part and a regular auto coil, so I'm looking for a 1968 Jeep/Kaiser (Buick) V6 odd-fire 225cu engine? Thanks everybody!
