Thanks Thomas for your input, it reads like sound advice.

Since purchasing an aluminum trailer is financially out of the queston I will check the bearings according to your directions. Hopefully they are okay and I'm just worrying too much over nothing. But I still would like to have a second set of bearings on hand just in case they fail while traveling down the highway. You know, Don't want to be spending a lot of money on a towing bill when I could just spend a little money for bearings.
