Re: [OMC-Boats] OMC-Boats Digest, Vol 35, Issue 14

I have blocked a boat up on stands and would do it again but it is laborious
and a bit scary. I used a floor jack on a concrete driveway. I jacked up one
end center and put a jackstand and blocks under it and then the other end
with similar stand and blocks. Once you get the boat free up in the air you
move the trailer forward as far as it will go before hitting the front stand
then you let the front down and reposition the jack to lift. You "walk" the
trailer out from under the boat doing this procedure several times. It is
very dangerous but doable. I was replacing a trailer on one of the Rogues
and did not want to take it to the water and there is no lift here in town.
I would consider doing it again and leaving it up on blocks but would make
damn sure it was stable on blocks before crawling under there (what an
exciting thought!) For those of you that have read this far - go the Boat
Angel site and look at my boat up for auction. I took the pictures myself!
It is a basic fix-me-up but otherwise complete. Anyone wanting to restore
this I would be willing to part with the needed parts like transom seal and
it needs an exhaust housing at the upper drive. No big problem. If you want
it for parts then maybe I or someone else will buy them back from you! I
came into a 69 Sportsman 155 donated from Ryan Moore in Wilmington, NC ( 3
cheers to Ryan ) that I will begin restoring. I was getting ready to restore
this Rogue but the Lord decided otherwise. The Sportsman has a bad piston so
will have to pull the motor which means pull the stern drive and
intermediate housing and then might as well refinish the gas tank and redo
the bilge and wiring while you are in there. Been there/done that and got
the greasy T shirt. Also, they are having the Annual Run to the Sun Car Show
in Myrtle Beach this weekend - it is limited to our cars mostly from the
50's to the 60's. Every 57 Chevy on the east coast will be there! Tons of
GTO's, Vettes, Fords. Really quite a show if you can make it! Have a nice
safe weekend otherwise. Tom K.
