RE: [omc-boats] New guy - OMC Boats

Ya,

I actually had an uncle who worked for OMC. The motor I have on is a 72
Evinrude 50 hp and the serial number and model number don't match with USA
numbers.

Right now I am in the middle of a transom rebuild, guess the aluminum cover
didn't keep all the water out :-(. I have been taking pictures of my
progress. So far I have the back seat area mostly removed from the hull.

While I'm talking about it... Has anyone rebuilt the transom on early model
(64)outboard Evinrude Sport. I understand it was the only year they built
this particular model...

Hi Tom...

Good to hear from you too. Being a Peterborough cottager I assume the boat
was built at the Peterborough plant. I had a chance to tour the OMC
facility at Peterborough back in 1974 - they also built all V4 engines,
Pioneer Chainsaws, Scu-Buoy aqua lungs and Lawn Boy lawnmowers. It was
really a going concern in those days. It sure hit Peterborough hard when
OMC went under.

Dan.
