Good Afternoon. I was an Evinrude mechanic for 51 yrs starting in 63'. If this boat is in good condition, I couldn't see your pics, SAVE IT ! I would recommend doing a few things to see what the condition the power plant is in. First check compression in the cylinders, if there is damage there, repair is a serious job. next, check all gearboxes for oil condition. Note any water, metal, dirty oils. These engines used a standard 90 hp dual point ign system, if you have voltage to the coil with the key, you can get spark, no problem ! When you open the motor box, especially if its hot out, can you smell sour/rotted fuel ? These carbs alot weird, but again the core/basis for the carb is standard 90 hp outboard. Do you have gears when you have the key on and push the button? WHEN NOT RUNNING, turn on the key switch and push the button. If the system is working, you will feel drag turning the prop one way and it will lock up going the other way. If you have gears, awesome. If you don't, I can share more info for troubleshooting. These boats are very rare and worth very little, except for the pure pleasure of driving a rare boat, they are a good boat. We have a 68' Sportsman 155 that is a resto mod work in progress that we love and use as often as we can.

Basically that's a two-stroke 90HP outboard powerhead laid on its side and hooked to a unique upper gearbox hooked to the lower unit off a outboard. Originally most of them were equipped oil injection but when it failed you just mixed the oil with the gas. During my time as a mechanic we would not even work on them due to lack of parts availability.

I knew nothing about this boat or any boat for that matter. I've spent the summer researching and it has led me here. I took out the starter and cleaned it up, replaces the points on it and put it back on. To my surprise it turns over! It tries to start, I am not getting spark. I have checked with tester. Anyone that can help me out? I have done plenty of work on cars and electrical, there is power to the coil, but that's as far as I've taken it. engine code is DU-13EE, where do people get replacement parts? Below are the pictures. 1st picture is one I found on the website and the others are of my boat.

> Welcome to the forum and the boating world. Great places. Start off with a Seloc Manual for the early OMC sterndrives. You can get original literature from OMC for the boat but harder to find. You will need a parts list to get the number for the parts you need. You can dig on the web and come up with parts lists. Ebay is about the only source for parts other than for random dealers that are running out of parts or closing up etc. The rig is not too hard to figure out with some time and literature. Good luck. Looks like you got a nice one there. Tom Klauber Marion SC
