[OMC-Boats] cooling v 6 parts

Be careful with the numbers you order. Double check the numbers with the
seller. The logs are interchangeable left to right. The caps and elbows for
the v 6 are not - they are sided. Make sure you get starboard fittings if
that is what you want. The starboard cap has a hole for the heat tube to the
carburetor. The port one does not. The elbows are same as the v 8 as is the
port cap to the v 8 (similar year). Sea Way of Seattle is a good source for
new parts but not cheap. Good luck with your search.

Thanks for your help.

My outfit was bought new in 1967. It is a 16' Evinrude I/O Boat:

            Model No.: 224504E
            S/N: W122035

The Engine is 155 HP Kaiser 6.

            Model HU 15S
            S/N: W 49400

Parts are said to be covered on Pages 6-7 of OMC Stern Drive,
Evinrude/Johnson 1968 Parts Catalog, for 155 HP engines". (Even though my
outfit is a 1967 year, my "Tune Up and Repair Manual" says the engine specs
are same for years 1967-1972.)

I have access to a "1968 Parts Catalog for 155 HP Kaiser 6"

Parts that I know I need have catalog identification as follows:

Ref # 6 - Part No. 380995 : "EXHAUST MANIFOLD & STUD ASSEMBLY",

Ref # 8 - Part No. 312149 : "CAP, Exhaust, manifold, -stbd" &

Ref 15 - Part No. 312151 "ELBOW, Exh. manifold - stbd."

If you can help me locate these parts I would appreciate it.

Here's one online for $150, though I've never worked with this vendor.

here's an ebay auction mislisting a V-8 manifold as this part:

> Ref # 8 - Part No. 312149 : "CAP, Exhaust, manifold, -stbd"?&

about $45 shipped on ebay (in Canada, so more to get it to the US)

or $32 from that same place.

I don't see the elbow available, but you can get it as part of a V-8
exhaust manifold for $120 on ebay:
I'm sure you can find one cheaper if you look around a little more.

boats.net has all these parts new as well: (prices appear to be MSRP)
http://www.boats.net/parts/detail/omc/O-0380995.html $253
http://www.boats.net/parts/detail/omc/O-0312149.html $63
http://www.boats.net/parts/detail/johnson/B-0312151.html $168

I think Great Lakes Marine (GLM) might sell aftermarket versions of all
this new.

Here's the entire drivetrain for a boat like yours that failed to sell for

It looks like it has the 231 cubic inch V-6 engine instead of the 225 that
you have, but I think the exhaust manifolds are compatible.

If you look around through junkyards, you can probably get a much better
deal - I wouldn't be surprised if you found the whole thing as a unit for

Be sure to get a new gasket with whatever you get.
