well, i am very mechanical. this boat was a co-workers and the starter
died and rent was due-500$ and it was mine. he live 30 min away and
delivered it. by the time he got home i had pulled the starter(he
couldnt figure out how to do that) and knocked the crud loose and had
it going..
but it really needed a full rebuild so for 50$ the local semi truck gen
shop did a super job.
that said-its not the power head. it turns back and forth just fine-i
mean it follows the slop in the ball joints and so forth.
its the lower unit.
previously the prop would freewheel when out of the water and no power
applied.-now its locked. wont turn either way.
refresher-its a 64 V-4 I/O 88/90hp sport 16'
i have a manual. ivve never dealt with boats really before now but if
it comes apart i can put it back...
figure it may be the eletric shift, the impeller, bearings on the
driveshaft down to the gearhead.... not sure-wish you more expierienced
guys were close enough to hire.
when i say 6X for a year around here the shops sneer and laught and
snob away... and theres lots of shops. we got lake oroville, black
butte, lake shasta.... tahoe is only 3 hours...
thanks!
mark
