Measure the DC voltage at the coil with the key "on". It should be around
6-8 volts.

I've found that the points often get oxidised and a good indicator of that is
that when you give the motor full throttle, you lose power from the weak
spark.

It may affect the idle as well. You've cleaned the cap, rotor and points?
Coil
is good? Plug wires are good ?

If you are getting a healthy spark, it might be another issue.
