The boat originally come from Florida. My Dad, brother in law, and I found it in Indiana, where I'm from, for $500, trailer and all! Good deal I thought. I moved to Wilmington, NC a couple of years ago and just went and got it over Thanksgiving. I am surrounded by water here and my brother in law was tired of getting stranded out on the lake. :) The last few times it was out it overheated and stalled the motor. I know I got my work cut out for me but I enjoy stuff like this. Also it is cheaper than buying a new boat. I fired it up the other day and it sounds good.
The river has a little salt in it from the tide coming in and out and of coarse the Intercostals waterway is salt water. Will this engine last long if flushed and washed down after every use?
I looked up the model number and did find out it is a 69'. I'll pick up the book for it and go from there. I did notice the steering wheel is cracking on both sides. Is it impossible to find original parts for this boat?

Thanks

Welcome aboard, Ryan. You'll find a lot of helpful people eager to help you and share info. Sounds like from your description you have a 1969 Sportsman. They feature a slightly deeper center hull, which allowed them to run drier and a couple miles per hour faster.

Blower/Bilge pump can be removed and torn down and the electric motor can be refurbed. Or you could choose to replace it with modern units, but you'll need a new seperate pump and new blower. You could use the old switch to run the blower and setup the bilge to run automatically, when it detects water.

Get yourself a Seloc shop manual that covers the OMC 64-77 "Electric-Shift" stringer-mounted drives. If the boat sat unused for a number of years (or was started dry) the rubber impellor in the lower unit water pump is probably in need of replacement.

Where are you and your boat geographically located?

Hello everyone. My name is Ryan and I found this list while searching the Internet for information about a Sportsman 155 I recently bought. I'm not even sure what year it is. I will post a picture of it later. It's in pretty good condition except for a few things. The Blower/Bilge pump is froze up and the prop tilt sticks occasionally. The red and blue stripe down the sides is faded which I'm working on buffing out. The last time we had it out it overheated. I'm thinking it is the stern drive water pump. I have no idea what I'm doing so I need to locate a book but I'm mostly interested in finding parts. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
