Several years ago, I had a friend who owns a machine shop fabricate metal
hold downs that hook on the the underside of the OMC rub rails to secure
a boat cover. Straps are sewn around the cover and are inserted into the
hold downs and once they are hooked on, they won't blow loose or come
off.
These are available for $5.00 each and it will take about a dozen to do
a 16' boat. These will not break unlike the original Johnson plastic hold
downs.
