'65 Sweet 16: Replacing Steering Cable

I didn't get my Sweet 16 in the water this summer because I've got a sick
boy, but fall fishing is a definte possibility. I need to replace the
steering cable. I've found replacement cable (3/16" aircraft cable). Has
anyone done this? Any tips or pitfalls you can share?
