[OMC-Boats] Type "A" Grease Substitute?

Where the service manual says to use Type A grease can you use the same grease you would use on wheel bearings? I just used this...   http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=95019&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&storeId=11151&storeNum=10106&subdeptNum=10434&classNum=10438%a0... for my wheel bearings and based on the description it seems that it would work for the Stern Drive points that require greasing. My second concern is that I've read a lot of comments saying you shouldn't mix greases. Does it matter on the stern drive points and if so, how would I get rid of the old grease?  - Nexi
