My Surfer only takes one little tap to lower the drive. I typically wait til I'm in the water and it allows it to go down a little more gentle.

Due to the unqiue design of the hammer-blow, worm-gear-driven clutch-
pack power tilt (whew, that's mouthful),

I have trailered my OMC with the leg raised at least 15-inches off the
ground. I don't raise it all the way put probably 75%.

Remember there is no stress on the transom due to the ingenuoius
design. Thus no need for a transom saver.

Also, when operating the power tilt - Don't let it slam down hard.
Pulse it in tiny steps. The steps need to be longer on the up stroke
cause you lifting against gravity.

Patience is a virtue, don't get overaly eager -- but have a safe and
fun time
