Re: [OMC-Boats] Props

We had a 20 that worked good until my brother had it modified in an attempt
to get more speed. Now it just acts like a governor and won't let me pull
more than 3500 rpm (if I remember right). I've had it cut back twice now,
but only got another 100-200 rpm out of it. I almost always run the 18.

Just take one over the bow and I think she'll understand pretty quick why
you need to keep it nose high! Those are pretty hard to forget.

I built a beach dolly for my PWC explicitly so I could get out in those 3-5
footers -- that's when they're the most fun plus the wind/waves kill most of
the annoying noise! They're not much fun for me on flat water.

Me-thinks you guys are running smack-dab into the 4-cap vs 5-cap
(pre-1967-1/2) re-design issue. Use my prop page to figure out what you got
and what you want.
Also stay away from the extreme ends of the prop pitch range. Don't go lower
than a 13" or higher than a 18"

PS -- Had my boat out today but ran into a massive thunderstorm front. At
least it keeps the masses of PWC's away. Managed to get in about 20 minutes
of calm water before the 3 -5 -ft white caps arrived.

I have a hard time making my wife understand why one needs to stay
"nose-high" (above plane @... 16 - 18 mph) in those conditions. She thinks I'm
just going too fast to bug her!

I had the same problem on a reconditioned prop I bought from a local prop
shop. It had the right markings but apparently the hub was not correct for
the driveshaft. They had to find the right hub and now it fits just right.

Hey Guys,

I seem to only have one decent prop, all the others are chipped or don't
like to easily slide onto the driveshaft. Any ideas why it would not have
free movement? Also, does anyone have any good props lying around? Thanks!
