        Thanks everyone for the ID number locations. I'll check it out.

        Lee,

        Thanks for the followup. I lost your earlier response and was going to respond extemporaneously from memory but you saved me from having to do that. Yes, through the use of your wiring diagrams I was able to figure it all out. Your '68 diagram was pretty much an exact match to the '70 Explorer though the colors did not necessarily match but using logic it was not that difficult to figure out. I posted a query on iBoats on the off chance someone had a correct color referencing diagram but it's not big deal.

        I've been moving forward on my restoration of my Explorer. I ordered new front and rear seats yesterday and will be picking up a replacement windshield this week from a parts boat I found. The one I have is nearly all plexiglass and is missing on panel. I'm in the middle of recarpeting. I've got all the pieces cut and in place pending glueing. Once that's done then I can add the side shelves and trim panels. Looking good. You can see the latest pics on my photobucket site.

        P.S....Lee, the link "Complete 225-V6 engine specifications here" on your Buick 225-V6 page isn't working. Looks like there would be good info there!

          Bill,

          Read this webpage: http://hhscott.com/evinrude/stringer_models_72.htm
          There is usually an OMC engine ID tag attached to the eninge and/or intermediate housing.

          Your correct (original for 1970, but you might have a 1969; sometimes they got mis-registered by dealers) powertrain number should be:

          HUFR-19EB

          HU = 225; F = Floor Mount; R=Rope Steering, 19 = 1970, (or 69 = 1969). EB = Series(?)
