I'd highly recommend you contact Roy Hansen of Hansen Marine in Salt
Lake City at:
801.466.4731 They are highly qualified at rebuilding older electric
shift OMC's and have been in business for almost 40 years.

You didn't say where you are located, but I would imagine shipping
wouldn't be too costly.

Subject: [OMC-Boats] Sportsman's Lower end

Hey everyone...just discovered some bad news about my 1968 Evinrude
Sportsman 155...looks like it sheared the gear that connects the shaft
coming out of the engine to the shaft going down to the prop.
Basically, I think I may need an entirely new lower end...or at least a
new gearbox in the top of the lower end. Any suggestions on where to
start for parts?

Thanks
JJ
