Jeff,
I have never had to replace the housing - the cover plate, or ware plate
does get grooved up and some say the water can pass back through he
grooves - but I have had some super worn ones and never had a problem -
I have not done one in a number of years now so I can't remember if it
was on my OMC or some junky mercruiser drives I had - but on one of them
I was able to just turn the plate over so the grooved part was outside
and a nice smooth surface against the impeller. Dave
