Re: [OMC-Boats] Sportsman 155 Engine Replacement

I run it at 6250 ft ASL using a 13 or 15-inch SST where it hits 35 - 37 mph (2-people) depending on conditions maxing RPM's at 4400.

I have run it at 3000 ft using a 17-inch SST and it turned 39 - 40 (2-people) mph.

I have never had it a lower altitudes. Lightly loaded I would expect it could swing a 19-in SST and possibly it 42-43 mph at 4200 - 4300 RPM. But the hull design really doesn't want to be pushed much farther than the low forties, as it loves to porpoise.

Remember, I have a stock Chevy 307, 210-hp which is cammed very mildly for a very smooth, slow idle and great fuel economy. It runs very smoothly compared to the odd-fire Buick and has better low-end torque, but it does have to lug and extra 150 lbs around. I've been quite happy with it, but it would be fun to try a warmed over 327-350-377-383-400-406-427 SBC someday.

Lee, have you ever taken your V-8 Sportsman down to sea level and put a hotter pitch prop on it just to see how fast it would go?

Just wonderin'
