Re: [OMC-Boats] 1964 Dual OMC Deluxe Spotted

Guys,

Lee's right, since there isn't any origional running gear or cowlings (far as I can tell)...Probably pretty easy to throw in a v8 and a stringer OR beef up the transom and go two outboards and be done with it.

If we're just dreaming and money or commen sense aren't obstacles...I kinda like what Scott is talking about. A modern twist on the origional dual delux, strip a couple e-tec 225s get them bolted down to the boat stringers somehow, get them running on their sides, mate them up with a custom adapter plate, drive shaft, mated to origional intermediate housing out to couple of vintage electric stringers....TOO COOL!!!

Fun to dream :-)

Yeah, probably easier to built up the transom and just hang a pair of 225 V6 OB's

In that case, go for one of those 225hp v6's they had, very quiet, light, and what a punch with two of them!  You could also run a leaner mixture than the 50:1 since the newer units required less oil.  The biggest issue would be getting the intermediate housing to mate up to the powerheads.

The hull probably isn't designed for that kind of speed, but trim tabs and maybe a bunch of ballast foward would help. I love the sound of dual engines and the handling would be amazing. Those dual throttles already look sexy - I can't imagine how well the thing would turn when you pinned the outside engine in a corner and cut the inner to idle. You could probably flip it if you got it to dig in in a corner...
