Yes.

Poles refer to alternator poles. Some marine applications (usually outboatds) run the tachometer sensor lead directly off the alternator.

Use position 1, 2 or 3 depending on your 4-stroke cylinder count.

Subject: [OMC-Boats] Tach settings

Tach confusion. Right in the thick of Installing a new/used tach.
Has dial on back assumably for cylinders. But it goes all the way up
to 12. Who has a 12 cylinder boat? Anyway here's what it's labeled:

# poles set:
4-1
6-2
8-3
10-4
12-5

What are poles? Should I set the dial to 2 for 6 cylinders?

Thanks jeff d
