Scott --- been there done that. The drill powered pumps don't work as well, for me at least.

I've found the Moeller Fluid Extractors to be easier and they surprisingly get pretty much all the oil out.
See: http://www.moellermarine.com/aftermarket/maintenance/fluid_extractors/

Straight 30W is fine, but usually harder to find. True most boating is done in 45 - 90 F ambient temps, so multi-viscosity grades aren't necessary.

Is that some sort of drill-operated tool Lee?

I always suck mine out the dipstick. Less messy that way.

Thanks Lee. You're a big help!

The previous owner said they ran the engine a couple of weeks ago. I pulled the dipstick yesterday and it's below the minimum line. Oil color is somewhat dark. I figure I might as well do an oil change since I don't know the last time one was done. I'm assuming I'll have to pull off the engine surround to get underneath and drain. It doesn't look like my regular oil catcher will fit under there. What do you use, or would you use, to fit underneath?

Just think of your OMC 120 has a GM 1967 Chevy II 2.5L 4 cylinder (very similar except for marine specifics, like manifolds, carbs, electrics).
FRAM PH-30 or similar for the Oil filter. Your favorite 10W-30 motor oil (NOT 2-STROKE) will work fine. Change both at the end of the season or every 50 hrs of engine running time.

Lee

What type of oil and filter do you use for a 1967 Sportsman 120?
