I forgot to tell you that Todd went with a new plastic tank with visual reference points (NO sending unit needed - just keep a flashlight handy to see under the dark bow) and he is using the hole where the fuel gauge was for a depth sounder.  They do make tanks with new sending units already attached, though, if you want one.  Bass Pro has them on the shelf in Shreveport.  We were looking for a place to put the depth sounder gauge assembly around the same time we were replacing the tank, so this worked well for us with no additional drilling or brackets or clutter around the steering wheel. I've looked in my parts book but it does not cover the gas tank or the sending unit.  I checked online for a universal sending unit but not seeing anything listed for my local parts store.. Anyone swap one out?  What did you do for a replacement? Also, I cleaned out my tank and overall it's pretty clean.  I did detect some surface rust on the inside roof of the tank which I took a wire brush to and got as much as I could reach off.  I'm thinking between the pickup tube screen (which does not rest on the bottom, and the inline fuel filter any residual particles that might fall off will likely not be problematic.  Given that, I'm not seeing a need to have the tank relined.  It doesn't look that cruddy and it's not showing any signs of being compromised.  Thoughts? -Bill Dallas, TX 1970 Evinrude Explorer - 155 Buick V6 - OMC Sterndrive http://www.photobucket.com/evinrude_explorer
