I've been out of town hence my delayed response.
They guy wasn't after the steering setup, he was after the entire drivetrain and dash setup of a junked boat.  Apparently the most expedient method was to take a sawzall to it and discard the rest.  Sacrilege, I know.
I'm not interested in the cable ends shown in his pics.  The full cable setup can still be found on eBay negating the need to undertake any repairs, rather just asking if the components behind the steering wheel and in the intermediate housing are easily swapped out.

      steering wheel end unit seems bigger than I was anticipating and have no 
      clue on the intermediate housing end.  Could I still use my original 
      steering wheel?
