I have posted on this subject many times. I think the foam adds structural
strenghth to the hull keeping it from warping while on the trailer and it
also is a sound deadener and not to mention floatation properties. It can be
replaced with 2 part expanding foam that you can get from marine fiberglass
stores - it is probably an industrial item. I would not consider replacing
the floor without it. I would consider a long rod or tackle box in the
center of the floor. It is a 6 month project that needs plenty of thinking
and measuring and pictures so the end product works as well as the original.
Take your time. Now is the perfect time to start as the season for most of
us is up. A great winter project. I can answer more questions if you like
