Ryan,
First you need to pull the head and find the problem - cracked head,
leaking head gasket, or the worst - cracked block - my suggestion to you
is to go ahead and rebuild the engine - not hard to do - the last gasket
and bearing kits I bought ran a little over $200 - I did my own valves
(you can take the heads to a shop, probably cost about $80 a head) and
honed my block - once done and back together I ran between 145 and 150
per cylinder - to pull then engines I have used tree limbs (stout of
course), garage rafters and I have done it by hand - if you pull the
intake manifold and both heads, drain the oil of course, then get one or
two others you can unbolt the engine from the intermediate housing and
manually lift the block out. Good winter project and very satisfying
once you start her up again! Dave
