Mark Quick question. You say when you crank the motor the motor only turns a
degree then nothing????? Will the starter turn the motor over.....if not
pull the starter and have it tested.. Could you be looking at a seized
engine. When was the last time it was run. If your engine is shot you are
looking at total replacement. Look on EBAY for out drive parts... Joe

Mark, on the sterndrive - have you checked out the electro magnets? you
can disconnect the drive shifting wires on the inside of the engine
compartment, port side of the intermediate housing - then hook a jumper
from the positive terminal on the battery to either one of the shift
wires - then go turn the prop - it will turn freely in one direction and
not at all in the other - then switch the jumper to the other wire and
the prop will reverse itself - again turning freely in one direction but
not the other - if the prop turns freely in both directions your electro
magnet is bad, or the wiring leading to it. It is not a difficult job to
pull the magnets, but don't do it until you talk to someone who knows
what to watch for - such as shearing off the wire when opening up the
gear housing. Dave
