new to goup

My name is Jerry I live in Ohio we are looking at a 1969 evinrude rouge to buy. It looks and runs good but we can not find any information on the boat. I was told that some of the older boats had wooden frames in between fiberglass and it could be rotted out. Is their anyway we could tell. Maybe we are worrying to much. But we have never bought a boat before and don't know what to look for . We was looking at new boats but found this boat and it has a style all its own and want to buy it. Any advise would be greatly appreciated
